I never realized so many geeks were also athletes. Please take with the deepest of sympathies as I am one such geek. Cardio by Fitnio is also a free exercise tracker that integrates the iPhone 3G’s GPS to track your rides/runs. The application shows your speed, distance, and calories burned. The application does ask for your height and weight, so it should calculate a reasonably accurate calorie tracker if it integrates your speed and inclination as well.

Now there are issues with the app. For whatever reasons, it does not seem to play nice with the apple OS input widgets. I’m guessing it may be because its trying to update data in real time to the site. I’m sure it will get fixed sooner or later. Also missing, the ability to download raw data.
From the different apps I’ve seen so far(note I haven’t actually used any): Runkeeper, Mapmyride, and Fitnio, Mapmyride seems to offer the most comprehensive feature set due to its real time mapping on the iPhone that the other 2 apps do not allow…yet.
It will be interesting to see how this software niche plays out. There seems to be a lot of room for advancement of the feature set.
