2009 Georgia Cup Calendar

By csh8428 | Jan 12, 2009

It’s that time of year: January the 2009 season racing calendar’s are starting to come out to get you all hyped up for racing just at the time it’s freezing outside(it’s 30F as of this post) and you don’t want to step outside let alone ride.

The big race series here in Georgia is the Georgia Cup(GC). I race in a few races last year as my first season of road racing as a transfer from inline speedskating. I did better than I expected a few times and worse than I expected at times as well. But, I did get valuable experience; which as I know from speedskating is more important than actual ability most of the time. I could beat much faster/stronger people in skating because I was a very smart skater.

I plan on racing more this season and with a little more confidence as well.

There have been quite a few changes to this years GC format; all for the better, IMO:

New CAT 5 ONLY racing
New MASTERS 35/45 – with NO CAT 1′s or 5′s
New CAT 4 ONLY racing
New GRID payout system – all GC events will be the same
New CAT 4 General Classification pay outs (see Grid)
New Women’s racing format
New AMB.it strategic partnership for all GC events to be timed with our timing equipment.
New Registration process – “just sign your waiver and race”
New custom results program – Weekend Scoring, MAR, KOM, team points & GC Points will all be much quicker and more reliable than EVER before.
New “Race Day” Director (TBA)
New and improved Rules and Guidelines (Much more clear and consistent)
New custom GC medals.
New custom GC trophies for General Classification Winners.
New “Chevron” color code marking system – KOM, Weekend Leader, MAR, GC (Yellow)

Will anyone else be racing in the series?
I will be in Cat 5, maybe Cat 4 depending on performance.
